The 16th Century of the Farnese

For lovers of the Risorgimento period in Rome, an opportunity not to be missed, which will leave you breathless; an emotion that will satisfy even the most attentive enthusiasts of this historical period rich in art, literature, sculptures, fountains, sumptuous palaces, and everything that human genius was able to produce in that period. We are talking about the man who hypothesized this artistic adventure of that period, and who surrounded himself with the most popular artists of that period: Pope Paul III Farnese; thanks to him that the genius Michelangelo was able to leave us a work that the whole world envies us Piazza del Campidoglio (and I know, and no offense to our fellow countrymen, but Rome is Rome); and in the jubilee year, here on a silver platter is the Farnese collection, which tells us about the maximum splendor of the Farnese, on display in the Capitoline Museums. We must thank the major European cities, if in this splendid exhibition we have the opportunity to admire works of art from Naples, Florence, Paris, as well as distant New York.

Alessandro Farnese, also known as Paul III, like the entire Farnesi family, had the passion of acquiring the greatest number of works of art, from every corner of the world, and by purchasing them and piling them up in their palace in Piazza Campo di Fiori, this symbolized the importance and power that the Farnesi could exercise in the public life of the country. There are 12 twelve, the exhibition rooms that the visitor has the possibility to immerse himself in this (or rather in that world) infinitely exquisite artistic journey (as can only be an excellent matriciana, enjoyed after this cultural experience: going down the steps on the right after a short walk through the Teatro di Marcello you will reach the Jewish ghetto and … enjoy your meal): the portrait of Paul III that you will find in the portrait room deserves the right in-depth study that it is thanks to him that today we can enjoy this artistic shower of the Italian Risorgimento. From my B&B there are several lines that lead to Piazza Venezia and in 25 minutes you will find yourself at the center of the world (of the past).

Passion, prestige, beauty this will invade your intimate sensorial and will accompany you on this splendid spring walk; the exhibition closes on May 18: do not miss it … and follow the link: https://www.museicapitolini.org/en/node/1013672
